BTS

 *************************************************************************
BTS Role in a GSM Network,

The BTS provides two-way radio communication between the PSTN, and MS located in a single GSM cell. It also provides a similar link between the MS and the rest of the PLMN via the TC. The BTS thus interface the digital baseband signals used by the land-based networks and the GSM radio signals used by MS.

To achieve its overall function, the BTS provides:
  1. Facilities to transmit and receive appropriate radio signals
  2. Management of the protocols used on the BTS-BSC and BTS-MS link. This provides a communications paths to GSM standards.
  3. Cell-specific O&M function
  4. Low-Level local control, including radio resource management.

TRIAL CELLS: Parameter Definition

L_RXQUAL_DL_H    - Downlink quality threshold for handover for non AMR calls.

L_RXQUAL_UL_H      - Uplink quality threshold for handover for non AMR calls.
RXLEV_DL_IH           - Downlink level threshold for decision between intracell and intercell handover in case of bad downlink quality.

Cells frequency retune

Current Default Value:                                     Proposed Trial Value 1:
L_RXQUAL_DL_H - 4                                           L_RXLEV_DL_H - 5
L_RXQUAL_UL_H - 4                                           L_RXLEV_UL_H - 5
RXLEVEL_DL_IH - -65dBm                                 RXLEVEL_DL_IH - -70dBm

By modifying this parameter,  quality handover measurements will trigger at this value (depends on the measurement of MS and the BTS). This gives longer time cell evaluation for candidate target cell.
