EPS bearers and key QoS principles
EPS default bearer:
First established for a new PDN connection and remains established throughout the lifetime of the PDN connection
An EPS default bearer’s QoS retrieved from subscription data in HSS when doing initial attach
Default bearer should be Non-GBR
EPS dedicated bearer*:
According to specific service triggering with relevant QoS
Dedicated bearer can be GBR or non-GBR
*) Similar concept as 2.5G/3G Secondary PDP Context.
**) An SDF is defined by a set of parameters such as source IP@, destination IP@, Source Port, Destination Port, application protocol type (e.g. TCP, UDP).
A. Bearers Level QoS
One EPS bearer
(same QCI/ARP)
Service Data Flow**
e.g. video streaming
e.g. WEB browsing
e.g. e-mail
